The Story Behind The Silent GiantsI have spent my career working in human resources and organizational leadership. Some of the most important lessons I have learned about leadership did not come from seminars, boardrooms or textbooks. They came from the mountains, forests, deserts, rivers, and trails.The Silent Giants began as a way to share those lessons with others. It has since grown into a vision for recognizing and developing leaders whose impact endures beyond their own tenure.
Why I wrote Among the GiantsI am not a leadership theorist. I am not a CEO of a Fortune 500 company. I am a student of the outdoors.Over years spent hiking mountains, crossing deserts, sitting beside rivers, and walking through forests, I began noticing that nature teaches many of the same lessons that great leaders eventually learn.This book is a collection of those lessons—not as theory, but as stories.My hope is that these stories inspire readers to
